AI for Students: KRU Launches “AI Career Guidance Agent”

Kostanay Regional University named after Akhmet Baitursynuly has introduced an innovative digital tool — the AI agent “AI Career Guidance Agent” — designed to help school students make informed decisions about their future careers.

The project represents a modern career guidance solution based on artificial intelligence, integrating several proven psychological and vocational assessment methods into a unified system.

The initiative was developed within the framework of the national AI-Sana program by specialists from the Department of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in cooperation with the Center for Inclusive Education and Psychological Support of KRU. The project reflects the university’s strategic commitment to implementing advanced digital solutions in education.

Career Guidance of a New Generation: From Intuition to Conscious Choice

Professional self-determination remains one of the most challenging issues for adolescents. Often, career choices are influenced by family, social environment, or random circumstances. The AI Career Guidance Agent was created to help students approach this decision thoughtfully and responsibly.

The pilot implementation of the project began at the Kostanay Gymnasium named after S. Maulenov, where senior students were the first to undergo AI-based career testing.

According to Kalybek Maulenov, Head of the Department of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence at KRU, the project was inspired by real student needs:

“Practice shows that out of 25 students, only five or six clearly understand who they want to become. The rest are still searching. We decided to use the potential of artificial intelligence to help them make more conscious career choices.”

How the AI Career Guidance Agent Works

The system is based on a set of five psychological and vocational assessment methodologies that were previously used separately. These methods have been adapted to digital format and integrated into a unified intelligent analytical model.

Each test contains between 20 and 174 questions. The core methodology is supported by additional tools, ensuring more accurate and objective results. Intermediate outcomes are generated at each stage, while the final conclusion is based on comprehensive data analysis.

One of the key advantages of the project is its efficiency. Thanks to a built-in database containing more than 500 interpretation options, the AI generates results almost instantly.

Additional methodologies help identify students’ strengths, abilities, and potential development areas. As a result, users receive not merely a list of recommended professions, but a detailed career profile reflecting their individual characteristics.

Another important feature of the AI agent is that all resources and tools are provided completely free of charge, without hidden conditions or subscriptions.

Artificial Intelligence as an Assistant, Not a Replacement

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of KRU, Elmira Nauryzbayeva, emphasized that the main objective of the project was to create a clear and comprehensive career guidance system:

“There are many high-quality assessment methods, but they are often used separately and on a paid basis. We integrated them into one digital platform and, with the help of artificial intelligence, made comprehensive career guidance accessible.”

The system includes more than 29 evaluation parameters and professional fields. The testing process takes about one hour on average and is conducted at a comfortable pace for students. Results are generated immediately after completion.

In this project, artificial intelligence does not replace psychologists or teachers but complements their work by saving time and providing objective analytical information.

When Technology Confirms Career Choices

Students who participated in the pilot project noted the practical benefits of the new tool.

Amina Manarbekova, a 10th-grade student, said that the test results helped her clarify her future goals:

“According to the results, the field of pedagogy suited me. I had considered this direction before, so it was important to see confirmation of my choice.”

Her classmate Alibi Alimbayev added that the AI agent helped him confirm his prior decision:

“I had planned to pursue engineering, and the test confirmed it. The process was easy, and the results were clear and logical.”

A Step Toward a Conscious Future

The Kostanay project “AI Career Guidance Agent” is currently being implemented in pilot mode and has already demonstrated high effectiveness. Unlike traditional career guidance methods that require significant time for data processing and interpretation, this system provides recommendations quickly and in a convenient format.

The AI agent is a modern digital tool that helps students make informed career choices and build personalized educational and professional pathways.
