Kuvambaev Zalim Nagashvayevich

Biography

Zalim Kuvambaev was born on April 13, 1986, in Kamystinsky District, Kostanay Region, Republic of Kazakhstan. He completed his secondary education at M. Frunze School, graduating in 2003. During his school years, he showed a strong interest in sports, participating in track and field, basketball, and kettlebell lifting — activities that laid a solid foundation for his physical development and personal growth.

Athletic Achievements

  • Zalim Kuvambaev began his professional sports career in 2003, starting structured training in powerlifting under the guidance of Honored Coach I. A. Shilov.
  • From 2004 to 2021, he remained the undisputed national champion and record holder in powerlifting in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
  • On the international stage, he consistently proved his high level of skill, becoming Asian champion and record holder in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2018, and 2021.
  • A milestone in his career was his victory at the 2013 World Powerlifting Championship, where he set a world record.
  • He is also a multiple-time medalist at World Championships (2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2017, 2019).
