Today, Baitursynuly University hosted a roundtable discussion titled “Republic Day – the Nation’s Main Holiday.”
The event was organized by the Department for Youth Policy and the student club Zhasstar Rukhy at KRU.
October 25 marks Republic Day in Kazakhstan.
It was on this day in 1990 that our country took a decisive step toward independence with the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR.
Thus, sovereign Kazakhstan was born — a nation with its own will, symbols, and vision for the future.
The roundtable aimed to deepen students' understanding of the historical importance of this holiday, foster discussions on patriotism, explore the path of Kazakhstan’s development as an independent state, and its role in the modern world.
Speakers at the event included:
Students actively engaged with the speakers, asking thoughtful questions on topics that resonate with all of us.
“What is your opinion on people stepping on or discarding the national flag as part of a social experiment?”
“The flag is one of the most important and revered symbols of our country,” emphasized the dean.
“Even in times of war, the status of the flag could determine the outcome of a battle: if it remained raised – it meant victory; if it fell – defeat. I am confident that our students understand the value of this national symbol.”
At the conclusion of the event, the organizers awarded students with certificates of appreciation for their participation in the two-day online seminar-training titled “A Just Society: Political Principles and Value Systems.”
A reminder: On October 23 at 11:00 AM, the KRU Pedagogical Institute will host a concert dedicated to Republic Day. Don’t miss it!
