Today, the Chess Cup of the Rector of Baitursynuly University officially kicked off at the Youth Chess Sports School in Kostanay.
The tournament will run for two days, and tomorrow, we’ll find out who the champions are!
Over 50 students from regional universities are competing across the chessboards — including representatives from KRU, ChelGU, KInEU, RIU (Rudny), and ARPI (Arkalyk).
KRU is represented by 25 students from various departments.
The prizes are impressive — trophies, medals, certificates, and cash awards:
1st place – 50,000 KZT
2nd place – 30,000 KZT
3rd place – 20,000 KZT
Awards will be presented separately in the men’s and women’s categories. In addition to the main prizes, there are also special nominations.
It’s worth noting that when KRU launched its chess club, Rector Seitbek Kuanishbayev promised a regional tournament would be held in the fall — and he kept his word. The event is being conducted at a high level!
Tomorrow’s final will be followed by the awards ceremony, where the Rector himself will present the prizes to the winners.
