New Constitution – New Opportunities and Prospects

Today, at Ahmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University, the results of the national referendum on the adoption of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan were summarized, and its new opportunities and prospects were discussed.

At the discussion platform titled “Evolution of the Fundamental Law: A Step Towards a Just Society,” the speaker was Indira Taltanova, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Theory of State and Law. Faculty members and students of the university, who showed strong interest in issues of constitutional development, actively participated in the discussion.

During the meeting, it was noted that citizens of Kazakhstan took an active part in the referendum and supported the constitutional reform, making a conscious choice in favor of the country’s future. According to the Central Election Commission, 9,127,192 people, or 73.12% of eligible voters, participated in the vote. Of these, 7,954,667 citizens (87.15%) supported the adoption of the new Constitution.

Participants of the discussion emphasized that these results reflect a high level of public trust in the ongoing reforms and the political course of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The adoption of the new Constitution is viewed as an important step towards building a just and modern society.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was highlighted that from now on, March 15 will be annually celebrated as the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, symbolizing a new stage in the development of the rule of law and the strengthening of democratic values.

It was also noted that the Constitution will officially come into force on July 1. The day before, the Head of State signed the Fundamental Law of Kazakhstan and issued a decree on measures for its implementation.
