Kazakh folklore at Ege University

Almasbek Absaqy, Doctor of Philology and Head of the Department of Philology and Practical Linguistics at Baitursynuly University, paid a research visit to the Institute for Turkic Studies at Ege University in Izmir (Turkey).

The purpose of the trip was to undergo scientific training, exchange experiences, and develop mutual cooperation.

Almasbek Akhmetuly gave the first lecture to scientists and doctoral students at the institute. His presentation on the legends of Abylai Khan aroused great interest among his Turkish colleagues. The lecture was followed by a lively discussion.

The director of the institute, Mr. Abdallah, expressed his gratitude for the seminar and highly praised the scientific work of our professor.

During the meeting, books about Kazakh legends and Akhmet Baitursynuly were presented as gifts, and the issue of translating these publications into Turkish was raised.

As part of the visit, the professor also met with the founder of the institute, renowned Turkologist Prof. Dr. Fikret Türkmen, 80.

The scholar, who has made a huge contribution to the study of the cultural heritage of the Turkic world, conveyed warm greetings to the people of Kazakhstan.

A meeting was also held with Prof. Dr. Selami Fedakar, an expert on Uzbek folklore, and Pinar Khanum, a researcher of Karakalpak traditional culture, at the Faculty of Literature of Ege University.

Ege University, founded in 1955, is one of Turkey's leading universities. It has more than 35,000 students and a faculty of approximately 8,000. The university plays a key role in the development of linguistic and literary studies.

On the weekend, the professor visited the Izmir Ethnographic Museum, where he familiarized himself with national costumes and ritual objects from various regions of Turkey.

Of particular interest was an underground well located directly inside the museum building.
