The King Sejong Institute at Kostanay Regional University celebrated the upcoming New Year with a festive ceremony.
Graduates of the winter semester received certificates confirming successful course completion. These documents officially recognize their readiness to advance to the next level of study.
The institute is named after Sejong the Great, the fourth king of the Joseon dynasty on the Korean Peninsula, renowned for creating the Korean alphabet Hangul in 1446.
The KRÜ branch of the King Sejong Institute was established in 2024 in partnership with Dong-Eui University (South Korea) to promote Korean language education and cultural exchange.
The winter semester proved challenging: participants were required to attend at least 70 classes and score a minimum of 60% on the final exam. Out of 100 enrolled learners, 69 reached the final stage, and 46 completed the semester with outstanding results—truly with flying colors.
Among them were five top-performing students, who will travel to South Korea this spring to continue their studies.
A special highlight of the event was Fulbright Program assistant Alexander Dvornikovsky, who not only achieved one of the highest exam scores but also turned the ceremony into a mini-concert by performing a Korean song.
Studying Korean at KRÜ opens new horizons for personal and professional growth. For Kostanay students enrolled in the dual degree program with Dong-Eui University (Automotive Industry Engineering), Korean language proficiency has become a strategic advantage—helping them excel in exams and gain direct access to promising career opportunities and job offers.
“46 students passed the exam. This is more than last semester!” noted Nagima Manasbayeva, Director of the King Sejong Institute.
She also added that with a new instructor joining next semester, more study streams will open, and exam and certification formats will be updated to meet migration requirements. The institute is also planning to apply for official testing center status and may become an accredited examination hub in the future.
