Learning with an Accent

Academic mobility is not just about studying. It's a time when cozy evenings take on the flavor of local cuisine, and learning and friendship gain a new language accent.

These were the impressions brought back by students of Baitursynuly University's programs “Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages,” “Chemistry-Biology,” and “Physics” from the University of Lodz (Poland).

"It was a priceless experience," says Vitaly Kudritsky, a 3rd-year Chemistry-Biology student. "The practical classes were especially useful. I got to work in teams with Polish students, improve my language skills, and understand the differences between education systems."

In their free time, the students traveled across Europe.

Prague immersed them in the Middle Ages – cobblestone streets of the Old Town, Charles Bridge in the fog, cozy cafés with trdelník pastries. Oslo impressed with its harmony between nature and urbanism. Copenhagen – with its cozy minimalism. Paris – with sunsets by the Eiffel Tower, the scent of croissants, and the Louvre. In Rome, they explored every major site – from the majestic Colosseum to the charming Trastevere district.
