On this day, the University became a dynamic platform bringing together talented and motivated secondary school students from the Kostanay region who are deeply committed to the future of our natural environment. The conference was dedicated to the memory of distinguished scientist Lidia Kurochkina, Doctor of Biological Sciences.
The participants were welcomed by Almabek Nugmanov, Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, along with faculty members. In their remarks, they emphasized the importance of environmental education and highlighted the value of engaging in research activities from an early age. They expressed confidence that today’s youth will become the driving force behind the region’s sustainable development.
The young researchers presented a wide range of innovative and socially relevant projects, including the development of bioplastics from plant-based materials, the search for environmentally safe alternatives to sand–salt mixtures used during winter, comparative analyses of environmental policies in different countries, initiatives promoting reuse and responsible consumption, assessments of students’ ecological footprints, as well as studies on the condition of Lake Shubarkol and proposals for expanding volunteer environmental initiatives.
Each presentation reflected a high level of preparation, genuine enthusiasm, and a strong commitment to making a tangible contribution to environmental protection. The students clearly demonstrated that caring for nature begins with personal responsibility and concrete action.
The conference became a true celebration of science, inspiration, and environmental awareness, reaffirming that the future of ecology lies in the hands of an active, thoughtful, and forward-looking generation.
