And the other day, Kostanay State University named after A. Baitursynov received permission from the Ministry of Health to work with pathogens of the 2nd danger group, and now scientists of the Research Institute of Applied Biotechnology will be able to work with COVID-19. In addition, a license was obtained to provide consultative and diagnostic care, laboratory diagnostics and general clinical care to the population.
Thanks to this, the capabilities of the Research Institute are expanding, there is an opportunity to work not only with the COVID-19 virus, but also to help hospitals and clinics in diagnosing other viral diseases, identifying tumor markers in the early stages of the disease, etc.
And on the eve of the Victory Day, the first 50 samples were received from the Fedorovskaya Central District Hospital. Laboratory staff, together with specialists from the National Center for Expertise and the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service, began to study the material.
Recall that the study of the capabilities of laboratories in the Kostanay region, conducted by the regional health department, showed that the laboratory of molecular genetic research of the Research Institute of Applied Biotechnology of A. Baitursynov KSU is potentially capable of almost doubling the number of COVID-19 tests carried out in the region every shift. The laboratory, equipped in 2015 under the state program of industrial and innovative development with the most modern equipment, has no analogues in the region both in terms of hardware complex and human capital.
