UNIVERSITY–INDUSTRY COLLABORATION

On June 9, the forum “Dual Education in Engineering Training: From Competencies to Industrial Solutions” continued its work in Oskemen.

The event welcomed international experts from Germany, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and other countries, who joined Kazakhstani scholars in the panel session “Global Practices in Dual Education.”

The second day of the forum featured insightful presentations by international experts. Among them was Elena Resch from Ruhr University Bochum (Germany), who presented her region’s innovation ecosystem model based on close cooperation among universities, industrial enterprises, and technology start-ups.

“As we can see, cooperation between universities and industry, as well as the implementation of dual education systems, has become a global trend,” noted KRU Vice-Rector Elmira Kenzhegaliyevna Nauryzbayeva.

Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University also follows a policy of training future engineering professionals through a model that combines academic study with practical work experience in industry. We had the opportunity to share our experience during the interactive marketplace ‘Interaction Builder,’ where representatives of universities and enterprises discussed promising cooperation formats and exchanged best practices.”

Bakhtiyor Mardonov, representing Navoi State Mining and Technology University, introduced Uzbekistan’s national initiative “Master of the Profession.”

Meanwhile, Fariz Mammadov, Vice-Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University, presented an educational model that integrates the international CDIO framework with elements of dual education.

Leading employers from Kazakhstan also contributed to the discussions. Representatives of the Allur Group, Allur Corporate University, Kazzinc, Sogrinskaya Thermal Power Plant LLP, and the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of East Kazakhstan Region shared their experiences of cooperation with educational institutions and outlined the competencies most in demand in modern industry.

The visits provided firsthand insight into how dual education programs operate in real production environments, how students acquire practical skills using modern technologies, and how effective collaboration between universities and industry contributes to workforce development.

The forum continues to serve as an important platform for strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions and industry, ensuring that future engineers are equipped with the skills and experience required by the modern economy.
