KRU VISION 2026: More Than Just a Voice

Baitursynuly University became the stage for KRU VISION 2026, the annual music competition that has long been one of the university’s most beloved traditions.

This year marks the contest’s 5th anniversary. Over the past week, audiences had the opportunity to see, hear, and truly feel the performances of the semifinalists. KRU VISION is not just about vocal skills. Inspired by the format of the international Eurovision Song Contest, it celebrates not only voice, but also creativity, image, culture, and individuality.

“We highlight not only students’ vocal abilities, but also the diversity of cultures and traditions of the people living in peaceful Kazakhstan. This is a competition where everyone can be themselves and at the same time reveal their creative potential — from choreography to stage performance,”- says Diana Rakpanova, Head of the Youth Policy Department at KRU.

Nine semifinalists took to the stage, each with their own story and personal challenge.

The format of the competition is especially engaging: each participant is assigned a mentor artist whose image they must not simply imitate, but truly embody. Contestants are expected to convey the artist’s character, energy, and stage style, achieving a complete transformation.

Behind the scenes were sleepless nights, costume searches, exhausting rehearsals, emotions, and excitement. On stage, however, the participants demonstrated confidence, energy, and a genuine love for music.

And it was all worth it.

The final promises to be even louder and more spectacular.
