A Challenge That Calls for Collaboration

Supporting young people’s psychological well-being requires the combined efforts of specialists from different fields. This approach formed the basis of a focus-group meeting held at the Centre for Inclusive Education and Psychological Support of A. Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University.

The meeting brought together psychologists from the Military Prosecutor’s Office, a lecturer from KRU’s Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Taras Nagaitsev—an external psychologist for the Kostanay Region Health Department—and Viktoriya Khakimova, a psychologist at Kostanay City Polyclinic No. 1.

The participants shared professional experience and discussed practices that help identify and prevent bullying, suicidal behaviour, and crisis situations among young people at an early stage.

Particular attention was given to psychological assistance, corrective interventions, and cooperation among specialists in situations requiring coordinated support.

An important outcome of the meeting was the identification of further areas for interagency cooperation.

Joint work will continue under the signed memoranda of cooperation—from sharing expertise to implementing joint psychological-support initiatives.

Such meetings support the implementation of Item 20 of the 2026–2028 Roadmap for Suicide Prevention among the Population of the Republic of Kazakhstan and contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 3, which aims to strengthen health, mental well-being, and quality of life.

Partnership in this area provides an opportunity to act together, combining professional expertise and resources to provide young people with timely support.
