The first official international Korean language examination center in Kazakhstan has been established in Kostanay.

The King Sejong Institute at Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University has been officially designated as a testing center for the Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA).

The SKA is an international Korean language proficiency examination developed by the King Sejong Institute Foundation (Republic of Korea).

According to the Foundation's official decision, only five overseas SKA examination centers were approved during the 2026 additional selection process.

The newly designated centers are located in Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and Iran.

The King Sejong Institute in Kostanay is the only institution in Kazakhstan authorized to administer the SKA international examination.

According to Nagima Manasbayeva, Director of the King Sejong Institute at Baitursynuly University:

“Receiving the status of an official SKA examination center is a great recognition of our team's work and a sign of the trust placed in us by the King Sejong Institute Foundation. This designation not only acknowledges the quality of Korean language instruction at our Institute but also provides a new opportunity for people across Kazakhstan to obtain an internationally recognized Korean language certificate without leaving the country. We believe this achievement will further strengthen educational cooperation and academic mobility between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea.”

Today, the King Sejong Institute at Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University is one of Kazakhstan's leading centers for the study of the Korean language and culture.

The Institute offers Korean language education, administers international language examinations, and organizes cultural events and educational projects aimed at strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea.

The Sejong Korean Language Assessment (SKA) is designed to evaluate the Korean language proficiency of non-native speakers.

Its results are already accepted by a number of universities in the Republic of Korea as part of the admission process for international applicants, alongside other recognized proof of language proficiency.

The scope of the SKA continues to expand and now includes educational, academic, and professional applications.

The introduction of the examination in Kostanay will make internationally recognized Korean language certification more accessible to school students, university students, teachers, and everyone studying the Korean language throughout Kazakhstan.
