Advancing Research Through Collaboration with Yunnan University

Researchers from Baitursynuly University have completed a research internship at Yunnan University (Kunming, China) as part of scientific projects aimed at improving diagnostic methods for sarcocystosis in livestock and poultry.

The internship was attended by representatives of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University: Kulyai Suleimanova, Professor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine; Zulkiya Abilova, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Veterinary Medicine; and Zhanaydar Bermukhametov, PhD, Head of the Laboratory for the Control of Food Products and Raw Materials of Biological Origin at the Research Institute of Innovative Technologies.

The internship focused on advanced laboratory methods for diagnosing Sarcocystis infections in poultry and livestock, as well as analytical techniques for detecting antibiotic residues in animal-derived food products.

The researchers studied molecular genetic approaches to pathogen identification, PCR-based diagnostic methods, morphological and histological analyses, and the application of modern laboratory technologies for the detection and differentiation of various Sarcocystis species.

As part of the program, the participants explored the research infrastructure of Yunnan University, visiting laboratories specializing in molecular biology, parasitology, genetic engineering, and veterinary medicine. During these visits, they examined state-of-the-art technologies for diagnosing parasitic diseases and exchanged professional expertise with their Chinese colleagues.

Working meetings also focused on opportunities for future collaboration in the fields of parasitology, veterinary medicine, and food safety. Discussions included the development of innovative diagnostic approaches for sarcocystosis, the implementation of joint international research projects, the preparation of publications in high-impact scientific journals, and the expansion of academic mobility for researchers.

As a result of the internship, the two universities reached agreements to strengthen scientific cooperation through joint research on the diagnosis of sarcocystosis in livestock and poultry, food safety, the exchange of scientific expertise, and collaborative developments in veterinary science.

The internship represents another important step in expanding the international research partnerships of Akhmet Baitursynuly Kostanay Regional University and promoting collaborative scientific excellence with leading international institutions.
