The conference, “Media Discourse and Education: Linguistic Design of University Websites,” brought together leading discourse researchers, experts in language technologies, and young scholars from Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and other countries.
The large-scale academic forum was held as part of the research project IRN No. AP23485644, “Enhancing the Attractiveness of a Kazakhstani University: Developing Effective Discourse Strategies through the Analysis of Sociocultural Dispositifs of Foreign Universities’ Websites,” led by Natalia Mongilyova, Doctor of Philological Sciences and educator at KRU.
The conference provided a key platform for discussing current trends in the digitalization of higher education, the role of artificial intelligence in media communication, and the visual and linguistic construction of the image of modern universities.
The high academic level of the event was set by plenary presentations delivered by recognized scholars in both international and Russian linguistics:
A distinctive feature of the conference was its high level of interactivity and strong engagement of young researchers.
Alongside established scholars in philology, master’s and doctoral students delivered in-depth analytical presentations, demonstrating a high level of academic maturity and proficiency in contemporary research methodologies.
The conference sessions covered a broad range of issues, from the linguistic modeling of web resources to information and psychological security in media discourse.
A major outcome of the conference was not only the presentation of the results of the grant-funded research project but also the launch of new international academic initiatives.
In particular, the participants laid the groundwork for a comparative cross-cultural analysis of the websites of leading partner universities.
The conference proceedings have already undergone expedited peer review. The collection of scientific papers has been published and is available on the university’s official website, while key studies by the participants will traditionally be featured in the pages of the academic journal 3i.
