Future Historians Finish in the Top Three

Baitursynuly University students secured third place at a national subject olympiad.

Organised by L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, the competition marked the 35th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence and the university’s 30th anniversary.

The olympiad, entitled “The Ulus of Jochi, the Golden Horde and the History of Kazakh Statehood”, brought together 33 students from eleven universities offering history programmes across the country.

Baitursynuly University was represented by Altynai Kaiyrzhan, Sanzhar Usenov and Madi Alpysbayev, third- and fourth-year students on the 6B01601 History and 6B01603 History and Social Studies programmes at the U. Sultangazin Pedagogical Institute.

The team finished third overall and received a third-degree diploma.

This year, ENU’s Faculty of History established the Department of Golden Horde Civilisation.

Initiated by the department’s staff, the olympiad was held for the first time. Its main aim is to broaden young people’s historical knowledge and encourage interest in the Golden Horde’s heritage.

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has also emphasised the importance of studying the Golden Horde, highlighting the need for continued systematic and comprehensive research in cooperation with the international academic community.

Congratulations to the students and their team leader, Tolkyn Yerisheva, Senior Lecturer and Master of History, on this achievement.

We wish you further success! We are proud of you!
