For this operation, an individual osteointegrated implant was created, designed based on computed tomography (CT) data and manufactured from titanium using 3D printing technology.
Such procedures had never previously been performed in the country, marking a new milestone in the development of veterinary surgery in Kazakhstan.
According to the young specialist, modern technologies now make it possible to restore mobility and give patients a chance to return to a full life.
The surgery was performed at a specialized veterinary surgery clinic in Astana, which Adil opened in December of last year.
Prior to this, he worked in private veterinary clinics in Astana and Karaganda, his hometown.
Today, his professional focus includes surgery, traumatology, and orthopedics. Adil performs a wide range of orthopedic interventions, including highly complex procedures available to only a small number of specialists in Kazakhstan.
Together with his team, he has also launched MRI and CT diagnostic services for pets in Astana.
Special attention should be given to the young veterinarian’s charitable foundation. He provides free surgeries for shelter animals and supplies them with necessary medications for postoperative recovery.
As Adil explains, his love for animals began in childhood, and he has always dreamed of helping stray and abandoned pets.
Today, as a veterinary surgeon, he takes on cases that have been declined by other clinics. These are often severe patients, such as the cat Kobi, who is now able to walk again.
Kobi was also rescued from a shelter. Volunteers found her in critical condition, and due to gangrene, one of her limbs had to be amputated.
Thanks to Adil Ongarbayev and his veterinary team, the animal has been given a chance for a full life.
Kobi is currently recovering in the clinic and preparing for the second stage of treatment—prosthetic reconstruction of the second pelvic limb.
We are proud that such a young and ambitious professional, Adil Ongarbayev, is a student of Baitursynuly University. According to Adil, university lecturers complement his practical experience with strong theoretical knowledge and a professional approach.
He has also trained under leading experts from CIS countries, completed internships in advanced veterinary clinics, regularly participates in professional conferences and master classes, and continuously improves his skills while sharing experience with colleagues.
In 2025, Adil became the winner of the prestigious PRO EXCELLENCE AWARD in the “Scalpel of the Future” category, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the development of veterinary medicine.
As he says:
“Surgery is an art that chooses those who are truly devoted.”
The story of Adil Ongarbayev is an example of how courage, knowledge, and dedication can change lives. Today, veterinary medicine is a high-tech and rapidly developing field where real innovations are born.
