The large-scale event is being held in Warsaw. Professor of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities Dmitry Legkiy is attending the conference in person in Poland, while Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Alibek Tabuldenov is participating in the discussions online.
The conference was organized by the Pilecki Institute. It is the first interdisciplinary project in Poland to bring together researchers focusing on Soviet Central Asia in the 20th century, the history of totalitarianism and political repression, deportations, and the lives of people who were forcibly relocated to the region.
Alibek Tabuldenov presented a paper entitled “Polish Exiles in Northern Kazakhstan in the 1930s–1940s: Demographic Profile, Professional Structure, and Age and Gender Composition.”
Dmitry Legkiy presented his research on “Poles and Koreans in the Teacher Education System of the Kazakh SSR, 1939–1954: The Case of the Kustanai Teachers’ Institute.”
The participation of Baitursynuly University scholars in the conference provides an important opportunity to present their research to the international academic community and contribute to the study of the history of Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
